Even though Halo 6 is not expected to launch until 2018, details of its campaign have already surfaced thanks to a Moa working at 343 Industries. The campaign is set to see the return of many main Halo characters, be a continuation of the uncertain future set up by 2015’s Halo 5: Guardians, and introduce radical new changes to storytelling, with one very important change in particular.

According to our chosen Moa, Halo 6 will not ship with a ready-to-play campaign on Day 1, with the exception of those who have purchased the Campaign REQ Bundle (more on that later). Instead, they will have to hop into multiplayer straight away, and start grinding for REQ points to buy Campaign REQ packs, which contain REQ cards of 6 different categories – Weapons, Vehicles, Enemies, Characters, Cutscenes and Levels. That’s right, for the first time in a Halo game, you will have to unlock the entire campaign from scratch. And yes, if you happen to exclusively unlock Campaign REQ cards for only Levels and absolutely nothing else, you will be able to explore the Campaign maps, without any weapons, vehicles or enemies whatsoever.

Halo Swallower reached out to 343 Industries for further comment, and their PR representative, which turned out to be an Unggoy, had this to say:

The campaign experience has always been an integral part of Halo, and as such we are always looking for new and innovative ways to bring that experience to our fans. Building on the commercial success of REQ Packs in Halo 5, we have decided to make the campaign of Halo 6 a REQ-unlockable collection. We also know how valuable the campaign is to many fans, which is why we will be making the Campaign REQ packs just as high-value, with prices starting at $9.99 for a Bronze Campaign pack, going up to $117.49 for a Gold Campaign pack.

We then pressed the diminutive Unggoy further for more answers, asking for more details on the Campaign’s story itself, as well as elaboration on the technical aspects of this new system, which led to the following response:

Uh… uh… about the story… um… Master Chief will be involved… probably… Cortana may or may not appear… uh… Fireteam Osiris… me not so sure! Technical aspects? There are many, just like how there is many food nipple! Um, let me see, please hold on, I am ‘Retrieving data’ now!

There we go! We have received confirmation from 343 Industries that the Master Chief will probably be involved in Halo 6! As for the technical stuff, the Unggoy finally got back to us after an hour of ‘Retrieving data’:

REQ service unavailable. Please try again later.

Well that sucks, I gotta reboot the game. Still cool though!

  1. I don’t believe this for a second!

There are FAR and Away too many of us who play Halo exclusively for the Single Player Campaign. I cannot and will not subscribe to the idea that 343/Microsoft will force multiplayer on everyone just to be able to access Single Player.

After the low ratings and general poor reception of Halo 5 this would be a very ungrateful thing to do to the fans of only Single Player.

  3. I’m 100% positive that this is a troll. This is ridiculous and anyone who believes this probably believes that the government is controlled by aliens.
